Too Granny?
Really, I can take the truth. I know some bloggers have done similar and it looks simply fab at their places but too granny for me? Sometimes I feel dangerously close to those older folks that sit behind the table at the bazaars and church charity things with the loo roll covers and the orange acrylic potholders.
I figured out how to do an edging in a shell (like) pattern. It's only been about two years that I have been crocheting. I made this pattern up. I don't even know if I did this cushion the proper way. I have never done anything in a circle before.
I had a bag of feathers from a previous project that was just the right amount for it. Do you know you really shouldn't try to fill a cushion with feathers inside the house? Ahh, see most of you already knew that, correct? I didn't. Not only that, I made the mistake of not leaving a big enough hole to actually put my hand "in". My oldest was watching me totally cracking up. It was quite funny. Then, brilliantly, I thought "I should do this on the porch". Well, in retrospect, doing this outside on a day with 60-70km an hour winds was probably not a good idea either. So, consequently, as I am filling the cushion, the bag of feathers falls over, just as the wind blows the door back open. Well, you get the picture. Some blew between the houses as well and it sort of looks like the German shepherd next door assassinated something there.

haha, I know exactly what you mean! There is a very fine line between granny and 'shabby chic'. :-) I think it looks gorgeous though, not granny at all. The colours are too bright!
I think its lovely - maybe if it was on something white - but then I am obsessed with white !!
Love the flower

It's granny but still lovely nevertheless. If you don't like it in your house maybe you could just have a giveaway. ;)) Or sell it. Cherrie
i think it looks pretty with the red flower on it..
Funny stuff! I laughed so hard at the thought of you outside and feathers blowing everywhere. I like the finished product-totally not granny! Thanks for stopping in to say hi. That green polka dot fabric(is that you one you were inquiring about?) is flannel and it is from www.fabric.com I bought it a long time ago-over a year so I don't know if they still have it.
No way!! It's just a beautiful cushion - very lovely!!!
I think it's lovely and not too granny at all. ;-)
I think it's really lovely but if I might say so, I might have done the edging (good pattern by the way) in the bright pink too. But maybe that's just because I love hot pink! I like the flower in the centre.

Not Granny at all! And I lurve it with the flower!
Too 'granny'? Never! It looks fab...and I love the flower. Well done you.

With the flower on it, definitely. I think it's lovely, the edging is great.
The granny/shabby chic thing makes me laugh. On my last car boot visit I spotted 2 bedside tables and couldn't decide whether they were totally hideous or cute in a kitsch kind of way, the look of sheer horror on my friend's face decided it for me and they stayed there!

ooooooooh....I like everything about this little gem, the colors,
the shell ( who doesn't love those) border and pretty pink Irish Crochet Flower...it is Charming...we like what we like.....granny or not...this is more victorian looking to me...anyway if you like it, and you made it don't worry about it..when you start crocheting toast coaster....then worry...about granny...
Not at all!
The colours are fab!
I love it!xxxx
Oh I see that you have "the widget" too. I can get lost on those things.
No! Definitely not "too granny." I thinnk you're right it's all about the color combinations and the right yarn. It's really pretty and you made me laugh with your description of getting it filled.
Definately very cool, and most definately with the lovely flower................... I know what it's like to lose sight of how to view work when you've been involved with it for a while.................... I don't think it looks granny at all, just very pretty and covetable.................. I do like your flying feathers story! very amusing!

I don't think it looks granny, the colours aren't right for granny are they? Love the flower in the middle - just love that colour pink.
Take care.

Lovely with or without the flower - and a gorgeous shade of blue. I found myself reading the instructions in an old crochet book for a toilet roll cover, and then realised that it was a bit too much old ladyish even for me!

Granny can be lovely, and that's definitely lovely... I'll give it a home if you go off it! LOL. Your post did make me chuckle. Love the edging.
hi! i just found your ADORABLY COOL blog. you are so funny. i am wondering if the little round pillow in question could use something like some ball fringe as a way to simultaneously acknowlege and embrace it's granny-osity!

Definately not Granny! A toilet roll cover is a step too far, but this lovely cushion is perfect. Love it, its so pretty X
Love it. Where can I get a pattern or tutorial for it? I also want to try your lampshade cover too. Lovely!
Nope it is not in the category of loo covers.
I don't think it is too granny at all - I actually think it is really funky. Does that make me a granny?!
You have a sweet blog! Enjoyed my visit! ~Maryjane
I like your cushion without the flower, but if you like one on there I would go for white..the same colour as your edge.
Lovely work.
Kind Regards
