I Felt Alone Til I Found You

Honestly, I'm not kidding. Before I started blogging, I seriously thought I was one of the very few that watched movies just for set decorating. The list is sooo long I really can't post them all but do you know how many times I watched "Dennis the Menace" and "101 Dalmatians" with the kids pretending it was for the stimulating dialogue and the crazy antics?
Then I found you. People like me. Those that love detail. That revel in English style, cosy wing chairs and down filled cushions. It has opened up a whole new world for me. So when I came across these pictures I just had to share. This movie was one of my favourites to watch over and over again. How delightful are these rooms?

That wood and wicker table is to die for. And the stone work for the fireplace, how comfy looking is that?

So perfect. If you are interested in set decor you should visit The Set Decorator's Society of America. Wonderful pictures and links. For those that are just as crazy as I am. While I'm on the subject, I had a comment from a blogger that wanted to use a few of my pictures and after visiting her I realized there are more just like us. Marcia has a very comprehensive list of movies in her sidebar that is just the ticket. And the china and teacups are scrumptious.

Oh I do that, too. I'm sure that there are many of us. I must check out your blogging bud's movie recommendations. Do you have a favorite based on set decoration alone?

I love watching old period films for the interior design details. I love the country house in Atonement

What a gorgeous set - I have to rent the film now! One of my favourite film sets was the recent 'Charlotte's Web'. Unfortunately most of it was set in the barn rather than the house, but I have been known to pause at crucial moments to get a better look! Stuart Little is another good one!

Yes, yes, I do that all the time. I could not tell you what most films are about as I am always looking into the background. On Golden Pond is one of my favs and of course The Quiet Man.

I love the oldies too for the houses...particularly b&w ones from the 40's...I thought it was just me!
Glad you had a nice break, it looked lovely,

This movie was a good one, I did fall in love with that old house in England. I found myslef looking at all the detail of the rooms and forgetting about the movie, such a good love story too!

The conservatory kitchen in "Notting Hill" does it for me, and I also love the "101 Damaltions" house. I'm also a bit partial to CS Lewis' house in "Shadowlands". In fact the list could go on and on!

Thank you for posting this. Had you not I would've missed out on watching a great film. I had always passed over it at Blockbusters because I'm not a fan of Cameron Diaz or Jude Law but on seeing the beautiful set design shots you posted I gave the movie a go.

I'm so glad I did! Not only is it a charming love story but the set designs were wonderful. I fell in love with Rosehill Cottage at first sight!

I remember watching this movie and thinking just how much I wanted to stop-frame it every single second and just soak in all the charm. Thanks so much for sharing!!

(Another house I liked was Nicole Kidman's in the movie Bewitched!)

that looks like the bed from princess and the pea! Imagine trying to get up with a hangover - I'd have to a piece of quilt around my ankle to save me falling and breaking something! Lovely post. All very cosy - surprisingly a good thing - instead of pretending it's summer I just want to light the stove and curl up on the sofa with a good book! It's so wet and cold here! In August!

Ahh! I just LOVED this movie! I was looking at the photos and thinking "where have I seen those before?" LOL! Oh my, just lovely! I wanted to live there after I saw "The Holiday."

The house is fabulous in "Dennis the Menace". How about "Must Love Dogs" and "How to Make an American Quilt"? I'm consistently drawn to certain movies just because of the set; so you're not alone! XO~
