Ladies, please tell me your secret

Really, how do you get things done? How do you not fall behind on housework, ironing, laundry, the list goes on.

I am perpetually behind. I know I get lost on bloglines (144 and counting), and I sit and stare into flowers in a jug or breezing through magazines and books but I can't be wasting that much time can I? I did have a few appointments this week, the dentist and the doctor (another sinus infection) but I should not be this far behind in everything.

On the way home from the doctor I slipped in to the charity shop and picked up a few items. (See how I try and coordinate my time and errands?) A pretty old painting with peonies.

Oh, and the lampshade as well. This was 5.99 with the price tag still on it. Can you believe it was selling for 119.00 in the store?

And the pillow with the original rose ticking.

***

I am now going to clean.

PS When I get my kitchen cupboards painted you all will be the first to see my kitchen

Well, I am spending way too much time visiting my blogging buds that's for certain. But my trick for getting things done is using the FlyLady method. I have a button for her on my sidebar. It's incredible how much can get done just 15 minutes at a time. And that's usually exactly how I tackle anything...15 minutes at a time. (Now if I could just apply this to blogging.)

Great finds and I do mean great!

Well I am not sure if I do keep up with it to be totally honest. If you could see the state of my living room at the moment and not to mention all of the rooms upstairs! I try and keep the bits that strangers and callers to the house may see very very very tidy and the try and keep on top of the rest as and when. I used to be so anal about tidying etc, but I don't have time to do that anymore.

Hope you feel better soon.

Oh and I too can recommend FlyLady, I need to get back into the way of thinking because when I did it my house was shiny and a new penny.

I'm always behind too. Housework, laundry, etc. But I do like very much homemaking, much more then working outside fulltime, but because of that, I can't never have my work at home done properly. Well, because of that and because I like blogs so much too.I dream about to find a way of staying more time at home and having my home as I want to have it.

No secrets here I'm afraid, I'm perpetually chasing my tail. We lost our computer for a week and I was amazed how much I got done, but I missed blogging like mad! What can we do??
Great finds by the way.

I have no idea how people get things done - my ironing basket is currently about 2 foot tall (and it never gets any less!) Just scrolled down and I love your ripple blanket, I am in the middle of a granny blanket - 20 squares and counting! - Natalie x

You're not on your own...I'm always behind with all the boring housework type jobs, because as well as working part time, I would rather sew, decorate, bake and so on.

The work in our old cottage seems never ending - there's always something that needs fixing or painting...rewarding when it's done though.

Love your finds...see, you can multi-task!

Yep, Im ususally way behind too. One thing that helps a bit is to get everyone involved and have a real good clear out and clean up then try to do a bit every day so it never gets super far behind. I dont why I'm saying this because it never works for long. I was trying to be positive! Maybe the key is to not worry about the less important stuff? Many women do try to do everything theirselves. Relegate some of the responisbility elsewhere!

Looking forward to seeing the newly painted kitchen :-) I tidy and clean as I go along its the only way I can get it done ! I know some people have certain days for certain jobs but if i leave it it just becomes too much and i crumble in a pathetic heap and dont do anything instead LOL
so little and often, little and often :-)

Hi there, just found your blog,I love your style and the peony picture I would love to have around here. There is no secret about keeping on top of housework, my policy is, you just fill the house with some amazing "clutter" that way the on looker will be so bowled over with it they won't see the heaps of dust in between, lol.Best Wishes from Annie x

I dont think everything is ever done. I try to concentrate on one room or one chore at a time. Its amazing how much you can get done if you set yourself a time limit. Choose a half hour that suits you and stop when the half hour is up. I award myself something whether its a sit down with a magazine, cup of tea and cake or a bar of chocolate so there is something to look forward to afterwards. You should always treat yourself, you deserve it when you lead such a busy life. X

Well, I'm way behind on everything. And I forget lots of things that need doing too! I really don't think you are alone in this. lol.
Ps. I'd love to see a picture of your Harry Potter kitchen as it really is!

Gee I wish I had come up with you blog title. Mine is so boring.

I think the only way to get jobs done is to just do them (or find someone else who will do them for you, LOL.)
