Darling, Where Have You Been?
I've been on the sofa for the better part of the whole weekend. Another sinus infection that has been waiting in the wings for a couple of weeks now. Everyone has had a cold here and I have been waiting for it, really.
My house has totally fallen apart these last two days. Nobody, I repeat, NOBODY, knows where anything goes when mother is indisposed. Shoes are piled high at the front door. I made the mistake of leaving the dishwasher to be unloaded and NOBODY knew where to put everything. The dog did get fed but such a measly portion, a dormouse could not survive on it. Luckily, I spied that one and filled it properly. The kitchen is not in very good shape either. There is an unidentifiable stain on my lovely ironed tea towel that will surely have been used for some dastardly deed that may involve the floor and/or the dog so that shall be put in the every growing pile of laundry (apparently the washer has a secret combination that only "I" can decipher). The dishcloth, that was bleached to within an inch on Friday has a charming "tea stained" patina to it now that professional dyers could only dream of. Every single toilet roll needed to be changed today because, again, I am the only one with that elusive power.

Why, oh, why does this bother me so? On a more pleasant note, I have been fed and watered.

Mothers are invaluable! Hope that you are feeling much better very soon before the gargantuan task of cleaning the house after being on the sofa puts you right back. The dog must adore you!
I know exactly what you mean! Hope you are on the mend soon! ;-)
I can sympathize totally. If I take to bed ill (which isn't often - mostly because the stress of watching the house fall into untidyness is too much to bear!) it is just the same here. Holly, as the other female in the house, does try to keep some order, although she is only 9 - bless her!!
Hope you feel better soon.

I can sympathize, especially since I've had a sinus infection all week. And now both my babies are sick with some unknown nasty virus and hubby has bronchitis...needless to say I have said good riddence to all chores but dishes (hubby normally does them) and laundry (babies are throwing up like crazy) to keep every one semi-clean and comfy while sick(ie favorite blankies are top priority to speed through a wash & dry cycle). Best of luck and a speedy recovery to you and take the cleaning a bit at a time to save yourself :)
That sounds familiar! How come no one else notices the mess and debris enough to clear it away? My family are very good at bypassing piles of clothes and recycling etc. Hope you are soon feeling better so you can restore order.

I'm glad they fed and watered you....oh you poor lady!
When I was ill over Christmas Olly was spinning in circles trying to do everything...the lists were endless....."you do this amount of stuff everyday" he must have said at least a dozen times per day!
Get well soon hun!xxxx
When I saw your title I thought you were going to say you'd 'been to London to visit the Queen' ;)!
I do hope you feel better very soon.

I so know how you feel. Whenever anyone else does anything round here, they make such a horrendous mess I just wish I'd done it myself. I'm sure that's what they're after, anyway...
Hope you feel better soon.

I hope you feel better soon!
I know just what you mean, I am the ONLY person who can possibly clean the sink/hob/floors, empty a bin, put on a wash, clean the bathroom....
Hope you're feeling a lot better soon.

I sometimes wish I had to be away on a business trip for oh, two to three weeks just to see how the family would fair. My only request ( upon pain of death!) would be that I find the house as I left it.
It would be worth missing them for and of course, I'd get the perks of room service.
Make a list for them of basic tasks that have to be completed- it has the added advantage they will understand what you do to look after them, and appreciate you a little more. Take care of yourself and get better soon.
By the way, my husband tried the make out the other day he couldn't work the washing machine - I pointed out to his sheepish expression that he owned the washing machine for 9 years before he met me so I wasn't falling for that old chestnut!!
So sorry you're sick!
Your comments about the state of your home remind me of the old saying -- how does it go? -- 'housework is the work no one notices until it's not done'? Unfortunately, we (moms/wives/women) seem to be the only ones who know how to do it?
Anyhoo, feel better!
Plus bins don't get emptied, they just get the contents compressed more and more...
Towels don't get changed yuk!
Sinks don't get cleaned...
Oh the list is endless...but we love 'em (why??????)
Hope your on the mend xx
You are right, when mom is incapacitated, nothing and I mean nothing gets done right, it bothers you because you want a tidy run home. I hope this finds you better.
oh dear, do get better soon.

Just popped by to see how you are and to say hi!xxx
You have all my sympathy, exactly the same thing happens in this house too, or rather doesnt happen! Extra special sympathy on the effects of the medication. I had to have intravenous antibiotics recently and boy did they wreak havoc with my system - say no more!
I love the felted baby bootees.
