Scones and other things...

Made scones for a dear friend today. Do you have a favourite recipe?
(ooops forgot about that no carb thing)

She came and dug up some of my elderberry shoots. I make a syrup in the fall with the berries that the kids originally hated. Now DN2 plans to take it away to uni and sell it for those suffering from coughs/flu. Enterprising little thing ;)

My man moans that I make all sorts of choccolatey things, but never cheese scones. Now fruity warm scones with cream and jam that's another matter. Looks yummy.

Those scones look delish!! I make scones myself quite often from a simple recipe I found years ago in our local paper. They take just minutes to whip up and are what I call a drop scone, unlike the ones where the dough is rolled out and cut in circles or triangles. They might even be a bit sweeter as well, but that's how I like them. No clotted cream or jams needed. They are tasty all on their own. I posted the recipe back in my first days of blogging so you can find the recipe in my Archives from Sept 2008 if you care to check it out.

ooh you have just triggered a lovely memory..when my children were small in th uk ..we went for a walk on the north yorkshire moors and stumbled across a wild bluberry patch..we had nothing to carry the precious berries in ...so i took off my bra!!..perfect baskets

The scones look scrumptious. I love gathering elderberries in the autumn, we usually make wine, but this year, I'm going to try my hand at the syrup. Also, cant wait for next month to collect elderflowers to make cordials and treats for the bath. :) xxx

Why yes, I do have a favourite scone recipe. I just made some myself. I have tried MANY and I do like my present one rather a lot. I suppose I could share it with you...:)

Mmmm, I love scones. My mum makes the most amazing scones ever. She can whip them up in a matter of minutes. She doesn't follow a recipe. She's made them so many times she can judge the quantities by eye. There's nothing better than tea with scones and jam by the fire on a blustery afternoon.

Ooooo, I love scones and I do have a favorite recipe. Gosh, I'll have to go find it and make some -- it's been way too long! I'll send you the recipe when I come across it if you'd like, but I bet you have a very good one yourself!
Scones and tea reminds me -- the first time I had proper English tea was in Toronto years and years ago. It was in the tea room of an old hotel downtown near the Bloor & Yonge intersection. I looked for it last time I was there but I guess it's long gone ;-(. Oh well, we did have very very nice tea at the Royal York instead.
Blessings,
G
